Today, Reverend Martin Cimerman Krizolog, OFM celebrated 30 years as pastor of St. Cyril in St. Mark’s Place.
The 106-year-old Slovenian church, consecrated in 1916 is a beacon of faith in the East Village, bursting with eclectic shops and nightlife. Fr. Kriz also recently received a medal of honor from Slovenian President Borut Pahor, who was in New York for the U.N. General Assembly, for his services in preserving Slovenian culture and uniting Slovenians in the USA.
Fr. Kriz remarked, “I did not expect this award and am surprised. I sincerely thank the president for this recognition, which I accept as recognition for the entire Slovenian community that lives and works here.”
Congratulations Father Kriz!
