100th anniversary of the Church of Saint Cyril in New York City

Dear parishioners and friends:

We invite you to join us for a Centennial Mass and Gala to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Church of Saint Cyril in New York City on Sunday, October 16, 2016:

Mass at 10:30 AM
The Church of Saint Cyril
62 Saint Marks Place, New York, NY 10003

Gala at 2:00 PM
New York Athletic Club
180 Central Park South, New York, NY 10019

As in previous years, we will mark the occasion by printing a full color brochure describing the parish history. Many of you have come to our church over the years, and you may know many friends and family members who have as well. If you have stories, photos and/or names of people you would like to honor and remember in our centennial publication, please mail or email us before June 1st – indicate your name, phone number, email and mailing address so we can return any original photos to you and contact you if we have any questions, thank you! In addition, if you would like to include a personal an- nouncement and/or photo in the brochure with your family’s congratulatory message, please let us know (1/4, 1/2 and full page – 6”x 9”).

The deadline for registration for the Gala is August 1, 2016. Please RSVP by completing and mailing the enclosed registration form (download it at the bottom of this article) and your check to the church as soon as possible, indicating the number of people and your meal preferences. Additional tax-deductible donations to the church for the organization of the festivities are welcome.

There will be free transportation from the church to the New York Athletic club (one way only), for those who are not driving; note there are many convenient subway stations close to both locations, and on the N/R subway there is direct subway service between the church and the gala location: 8 Street-New York University/Broadway (3 blocks from the
Corinth church) to 57 Street/7th Avenue (3 blocks from the New York Athletic Club). Alternatively, if you would like to drive, you can find parking and discounts by entering the street address at: www.bestparking.com.

Hey

I am writing from Ireland and am just wondering if you are a Catholic Church?
If so, is your Catholic Church the nearest Catholic Church to 101 East 9th Street?

I am asking because my GrandUncle Thomas (Tom, Tommy) Maguire (McGuire) lived at 101 East 9th Street in 1898. I am researching his movements in New York. I cannot find anything more about him after this date. If your Chuch is the nearest Catholic Church to his address - 101 East 9th Street, would it be possible to find out if there is any death or burial record for him at your Church, from on or after 9th August 1898? I got this information from Thomas' naturalisation petition which has that date on it.

Please let me know your charges.
