Poročilo (SL) V nedeljo, 15. februarja 2026, je po sveti maši ob 10.30 potekala redna mesečna kulturna ura slovenske skupnosti v New Yorku. Po maši je sledilo druženje ob kranjski klobasi z zeljem ter slovenskih krofih in flancatih. Urbanista in arhitekta Neža Brankovič in Jan Žonta sta predstavila projekt »Public Spaces, Private Stories«, z osrednjim poudarkom na Narodnem domu v Trstu ter idejni zasnovi njegove prenove in pomena skupnostnih prostorov. Predstavila sta tudi primere dobrih praks delovanja medkulturnih centrov, med drugim češke in irske skupnosti v New Yorku. Razprava po predstavitvi je odprla več idej, kako bi Slovenci v NYC lahko poživili delovanje skupnosti in okrepili skupnostne programe. Slovenci v New Yorku so se Neži in Janu zahvalili za njuno delo, jima zaželeli uspeh, ob zaključku pa sta obljubila, da bosta prinesla dodatne predloge, ki jih bo skupnost lahko skupaj obravnavala kot možne korake naprej.

The gathering continued with a warm reception featuring Carniolan sausage with cabbage, plus Slovenian doughnuts and flancati. Urbanist and architect Neža Brankovič and Jan Žonta presented “Public Spaces, Private Stories”, focusing primarily on the Narodni dom in Trieste and a concept for its renovation, highlighting the role of community architecture and identity. They also shared best practice examples from intercultural centres, including the Czech and Irish communities in New York. The discussion that followed generated practical ideas that Slovenians in NYC could adapt to energise and strengthen community life.
